母の遺品である小さな聖書のなかにあったG.ワシントンの祈祷文です。英語が苦手の方にも大意が分かるように，私訳を行いました。

[G.Washington's Prayer for the Nations]

Almighty God, we make earnest prayer that Thou wilt (you will) keep United States in the holy protection; that Thou wilt (you will) incline the heart of the citizens to cultivate a subordination and obedience to government, and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United states at large　and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field.
And, finally, that Thou wilt (you will) graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these thing we can never hope to be a happy nations.
Grant our supplications, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

全能なる神，汝が合衆国を，神聖に保護し続けることを，我等，切に祈らん。

国民の心をして，政府の命に自らの意思で従わしめんことを，

お互いのため，かつ，合衆国全体の国民に対し，特に，戦場で任務に服している同胞に対し，兄弟的な好意と愛情を育まんことを
　
最後に，我等，心から光栄に思わん。
汝が，我ら全てをして，自発的に正義を行たらしめ，慈悲を愛したらしめんことを，
かつ，我らの祝福されし地域の聖なる著者の特質なる慈愛，謙遜，平和好む気質により，自分を高慢となさしめざることを
幸福なる国家では，決して望むべからざる卑しい模倣をなさしめざることを，

我らの願いを聞き届け給へ。我ら，主なるイエスキリストを通じて，汝に懇願す。
