書籍「ピンヒールで車椅子を押す」の著者、畠山織江さんの講演会にお伺いした。
脳性麻痺の御長男の子育てについて、年に何本もの登壇をされているプロの講演家である。
出会いは昨年の秋。
積水ハウス本社での講演させていただいた折に、彼女が大阪までいらしてくださった。
拙い私の喋りを顧みて恥ずかしくなるほど、織江さんのスピーチは実に滑らかだった。
時にテンポの良い関西弁を交えて、時に涙をためて、それでもブレることが一度もない。
彼女の生き様のように、真っ直ぐで分かりやすい言葉が胸を打つ。
障がい者を家族に持つこと、時間の経過と共に変わっていく家族のかたち。
いろんなことを考えさせていただく、貴重な時間となった。

I attended a lecture by Orie Hatakeyama, author of the book "Pushing a Wheelchair in Stilettos".
She is a professional speaker who gives numerous talks each year about raising her son, who has cerebral palsy.
We first met last fall.
She came all the way to Osaka when I gave a lecture at the Sekisui House headquarters.
Her speech was so smooth that it made me cringe when I thought back on my own clumsy delivery.
At times she interspersed her talk with lively Kansai dialect, at other times her eyes welled up with tears, yet she never wavered once.
Her straightforward, easy-to-understand words, much like her way of life, truly touched my heart.
Having a family member with a disability, and the changing dynamics of the family over time.
It was a valuable experience that gave me much to reflect on.
