This is the first album for her but now she is running the fourth. This album is revival? No! Remix? No! Rerecorded? No! Remastering? Even the author, Alistair Dickinson says so, no! This is another story of her first album "American Girl".
What an AI! It progress so fast. It was only a year ago, some track of Haper Johnson were released on YouTube.
I was in the bed. I was in the hospital bed. I was tubed. I was listening to something else. I thought I was tubed so I had a lot of time and nothing special I could do. I decided to watch series dramas but soon I realized that watching video for many hours is never easy. Then I changed my mind. I decided to listen to my favorite music. I have over 1200 CDs at home, but it is totally impossible to bring my archives to hospital, naturally I shifted to Amazon music. But it had a big problem, it plays randomly.
I have a policy.
I have a policy that album is a story book so random play was really impossible for me. Then I moved to YouTube, because in some channels by like Vevo, I can listen whole album from the top. While I was listening Southside (album title), Texas (band name), YouTube offered me Harper Johnson. I had never listened to AI music seriously and I thought they are only a toy in that time.
But I had nothing to do, I just tapped and listened to the first song by Harper Johnson. I was shocked. I was shocked by her perfect controlled vocal, super stable rhythm, over accurate lead guitar play. Of course it's a digital creation, clockwork like accurateness is a basic work. But it was new to me. Before Harper Johnson I tried to listen to some of AI music, but they never satisfy me. Harper was different. Maybe because my situation at that time drove me to feel something, even though she was already special.
Since then, waiting for her new release and enjoy her music became my habit. How often I listen to is much more often then brushing my teeth.
Then in the last August 2025, her first album "American Girl" has been released. Only a week later , her first single from the second album was released. It is really AI work. Humans really can't work so fast.
And now, Harper released the first album again.
The engine has changed, 2025 version featured old model of AI music generator. It was not bad, but in a way it was like a best karaoke singer. They were too accurate on scores. So, they are still good but not punchy. Punchy like shouting together with the performers. No mood of Wacken like live performance.
I tell you again, it isn't all bad.
2026 version pushes you much more with full of human’s energies. The sound pressure is massive. Harper drifts from the original score, shouting, breaking, twisting and more. The guitar rages so much. Drums smash the ground, low frequency powerful bass vibration attacks to your body badly. Bass guitar is really like her Harley or Chargers engine noise. The sound friction heats the oil. And the oil is burnt. It smells like a highway.
It's over the music.
I think it is very important thing that I have to tell you obviously.
Harper Johnson music just hit me and fits me. So, I don't think she is the everyone's best. You must have your own best, it's quite natural. Just Harper Johnson is currently my best. Alistair Dickinson produces some performers too. But the others are not striking my heart brutally like Harper does. And his all creations are still good. Harper is just special for me.
So, the first album with the latest AI, version 2026 and really first trial of Harper Johnson, version 2025, which is better? Having this question is quite natural for me.
So, my opinion landed on strange point. Version 2025 is better than 2026 to listen to.

Stable play is really good for BGM. BGM is one of the most major role of music.
But for playing loud?
Play loud, play dirty, play nasty... they are no more in music categories. The noise is the spirit.
I'll tell you more particularly, noising on my 12 inches woofers with surround system, 2026 wins! As music? I don't care. As a noise? It is what I want.
Version 2026 is the best noise I have ever heard.
And one more thing. Harper twists and drifts so much, I think I need sometimes until I scream with her. But when the time come, I think I do need a ball gag not to scream in public.
At the end, if you have some suspicions or doubts to AI music, just shuffle humans and AIs together that all you have never listened and compare them.
Both are wonderful.
You really don't need to deny AI. It's a new genre.
