飛行機内のアナウンスは、国内、国際便ともに日本語、
ついで英語で放送されることが多いです。
日本語を聞いて、英文になおすと、ちょっとした英作文の練習になる、
と九州旅行で気がつきました。
というわけで、機内アナウンスで英作文の練習です！

酸素が必要な状態になると、酸素マスクがおりてきます。
Oxygen masks will drop down when necessary.
マスクを強く引き寄せ、鼻と口にあてて呼吸してください。
Pull the mask firmly toward you. Place it over your nose and mouth, and breathe normally
ゴムひもを頭にかけ、長さを調整してください。
Put elastic band over your head and adjust it by pulling the ends.
脱出の際は、経路と非常口を示す明かりが点灯します。
Emergency lights will guide you to the exits.
乗務員の指示に従い行動してください。
Remain seated and wait for instructions.
脱出時の撮影は禁止です。←笑
Photography is prohibited during evacutaion.
手荷物は一切持たずに脱出してください。脱出の妨げや、スライドを破損する恐れがあります。
Leave all baggage behind as it may hinder evacuation or damage the slide.
ハイヒールは脱いでください。スライドを破損する恐れがあります。←！！
Remove highheeled shoes as they may damage the slide.
日常会話でも使えそうなフレーズが出てきます。
こんな動詞を使うんだ、という発見もあります。
たとえば、
「マスクを口と鼻にあてる」は「place the mask over your mouth and nose」
「ハイヒールを脱ぐ」は「remove hightheeled shoes」
「手荷物は持たない」は「leave baggage」
ちなみにbaggageは不可算名詞です。
３個の荷物は「three pieces of baggage」で、「three baggages」は間違い。
